The thoughtful consumerism movement is creating an ever growing marketplace. At least once a week I get an email from a brand I've never heard of and it's really exciting. Unfortunately in the world of plus size fashion the thoughtful market is lagging, much like the 'traditional' market. The irony is that since the average American woman is a size 14, brands are missing a lot of shoppers! After doing some research I've found a fun selection of Made in the USA, second hand and fairtrade pieces fit for curvy girls.
SmartGlamour- Designed and handmade in New York, SmartGlamour aspires to empower women through body positivity and by making good quality clothing that is sold at affordable prices. This brand is extremely unique as it allows you to customize each piece to fit your needs from size xxs - 6x.
ModCloth - You probably already know Modcloth for their amazing selection and great sales. But did you know they carry fairtrade and Made in the USA clothing on their site as well? You can find a great selection of the fair trade brand Mata Traders up to size 3XL and various made in the USA items up to 4XL .
Girl With Curves- If you're a reader of blogs then you've most certainly heard of Tanesha Awashti. She recently created a line named after her pefect blog Girl With Curves. Look here for made in the USA investment pieces in sizes 12-26. I'm in love with her beautiful ball gown skirt.
Thrify girls rejoice! Online secondhand retailers Twice and ThredUp are now offering clothing up to size 4XL! I shop these retailers for a guilt free splurge on some of my favorite unthoughtful brands. The link in this post will give you $10 off your first order and will give me $10 to shop so it's kind of a win-win.
Igigi- I stumbled across this brand recently and was surprised by their wide range of styles and sizes that are highlighted by their reasonable prices. Check them out for work and dress attire designed and handmade in San Francisco.
